A Note From Jen

Art has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. As a child, I always had paint in my hair and on my t-shirts. To be honest, not much has changed since then.

I grew up on Lake Martin, AL, a place that holds some of my fondest childhood and family memories. Most of my work is inspired by my parents, two sisters, friends, and golden retrievers who bring so much JOY into my life.

Travel is also one of my greatest passions, and luckily it goes hand in hand with creativity. New places, people, and experiences are constantly influencing how I look at the world and at my canvas. A great laugh, a sunshiney day, a good book, a hot cup of coffee, a challenging run or yoga session-- all things that make me want to stop what I am doing and splatter some paint.

At age 16, I started my own business, Happy Places Art & Stationery, selling my artwork printed as stationery in various markets in the southeast. During my time at the University of Alabama, I studied Marketing and continued to sell my work. Looking back, art has been one of the constants in my life. Even now, as I study at the University of Virginia School of Law, I still find paint in my hair and on my hands.

Whether it's a good day, bad day, boring day or busy one, I always come back to art. It clears my head, re-energizes my spirit, and keeps me positive and joyful about life. I am so grateful that I can share that joy with you through my work.

What makes you excited to wake up in the morning? If you haven't found it yet, start looking around. If you have, carve out time to make it happen.

Find the thing that makes your soul HAPPY and DO IT.
